mat ricardo, the gentleman juggler, is one of the most unique, critically-acclaimed, and reliably entertaining variety performers in the world.
the first man in history to learn to put the tablecloth back on the table, but that's just one of his incredible feats.
he is the winner of the herald angel award for theatre excellence, the british cabaret award for best speciality act, the kleinkunst cabaret prize, stagetalk magazine's show of the year, and the arts award pick of the fringe.
"dazzling showmanship, spot-on comic timing and bucketloads of style. relentless, hilarious, jaw-dropping fun" - er magazine
Mat has performed on the finest cabaret, burlesque, and comedy stages the world over - headlining shows from Asia to Europe, Scandinavia to New Zealand, Australia to the USA, and virtually everywhere in between.
He has performed extensively in the corporate entertainment sector, his breadth of material - encompassing stand-up comedy, slapstick, dance, and of course high-level circus - allowing him to fit seamlessly into any show, before stealing it.
"The outstanding juggler of the cabaret and variety scene. Immensely skilled and very funny" - Time Out
Mat has created and performed three full-length one-man theatre shows. The award-winning "Three Balls and a Good Suit", the London sell-out "Vaudeville Schmuck", and the critically acclaimed "Showman", which completed a sold-out London West-End run as part of the London International Mime Festival, was showcased live on television at the Busan International Comedy Festival, and continues to tour internationally.
Additionally, his groundbreaking "London Varieties" project drew some of the biggest names in cabaret and comedy together, and brought variety back to a West-End theatre.
"Captivating" - The Scotsman
Mat started out as a street performer in the late 1980's, and still loves the freedom, energy and craziness that comes from good street theatre.
He has performed at most of the biggest busking festivals the world over, including multiple tours of Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Australia and Europe, and is always in search of a new audience to play to.
Big laughs, serious skills, and the best tailoring you'll ever see in a street show!
